About BREEAM
BREEAM is the Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Methodology for assessing and evaluating the overall
sustainability of a building. BREEAM assesses and awards credits on the basis of the following:
•
Management
•
Health & Wellbeing of Building Occupants
•
Energy
•
Transport
•
Water
•
Materials
•
Waste
•
Ecology & Land-use
•
Pollution
Credits are awarded where it is demonstrated that the building design or post-occupancy construction meets specific criteria as set
within the BREEAM manual and is independently verified by the BREEAM assessor. The role of the BREEAM assessor ideally begins
at the design stage where the assessor can assist in advising the design team in shaping the building design to achieve targeted
credits under BREEAM. Upon completion of the building a BREEAM certificate is issued and the building registered under BREEAM
as one of the country's sustainable buildings. Benefits of getting your building BREEAM certified include:
•
Green credential marketing of your business
•
Tax efficiency
•
Low running costs
•
Staff well-being and improved productivity
•
Low Environmental Impact
